Active – Persons actively engaged as an examiner, analyst, practitioner or supervisor in the forensic sciences, whose membership application has been approved and whose annual membership dues have been paid.
Life Active – Active members of the Association who have paid their membership dues and assessments for the past twenty-five years continuously OR Past Presidents of the Association who are no longer employed with a government agency are also eligible.
Associate – Persons, wholly or partially engaged in any of the various phases of the Science of Identification, who are not qualified for Active Membership.
Honorary – Persons who have performed some particular service for the Association or have in some way done some conspicuous thing for law enforcement. Such person or persons, upon motion of any member in good standing, may be elected by the Board of Directors or by the Association in conference assembly, to Honorary membership for a period of one year.
Student – Persons who are full-time college students at an accredited college with a major in a law enforcement and/or forensic science related field.

Questions

Annual membership renewal dues are payable in advance and due on January 1st of each calendar year.

Any member in good standing qualifies for membership renewal through March 31st of the year following their active status as a new member or renewing member.
Any Active Member who’s membership status is suspended for lack of dues payment by March 31st qualifies to reinstate their membership for a discounted rate through December 31st of that same calendar year, after which a New Membership application and fee is required for membership.
Any member who is delinquent after March 31st of the current year will be deemed not in good standing and their membership shall be suspended.
for any new membership, the respective state PNWD-IAI Regional Vice-President shall investigate the qualifications of applicants for membership by contacting the listed references.
Any individual who has previously been an Active Member in good standing with the PNWD-IAI is eligible for a membership reinstatement through December 31st of the same calendar year in which membership lapsed. If the lapsed timeframe has extended beyond the calendar year in which membership lapsed, the member will then need to fill out the New Membership application and provide a sponsor name. A lapse in membership will not necessarily change your membership number, however, it will affect your ability to reach Life Active status.
